Unboxing the Sienna Pochade Box, Gamblin Artist's Oil Colors and Mediums

I’ve been painting in my studio for a long time. I think it’s time to go outside and paint in the great outdoors! In order to do that, I need a few basic pieces of kit.

The main piece of gear I would need is a pochade box - a small combination easel and palette box that can be mounted on a sturdy camera tripod. There are many pochade boxes available - and several are rather expensive.

Though I was smitten with the romance of outdoor painting, there remains the possibility that it might not be for me. Since I’m not sure that outdoor painting is going to be a thing for me, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on something that I might end up not using regularly.

In my research I found that a number of plain air artists use the Sienna Plein Air Artist Pochade Box Easel. It’s an affordable choice, so I placed my order for the Sienna pochade box.

I attended a workshop by Gamblin Artist's Colors' product manager - Scott Gelattly. Watching his presentation convinced me to try Gamblins oil paints and mediums and so I ordered sampler boxes of Gamblin oil paints and assorted Gamblin mediums.
